We Are Hiring! Aquinnah Police Department Seeks Full-Time Officer, Traffic Officer

The Town of Aquinnah is currently accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Police Officer and seasonal Traffic Officer.

For the Full-Time Officer position, Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Full-Time Recruit Police Academy graduates and Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission-certified Officers are preferred.

Applicant must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Possess a valid License to Carry (LTC) a firearm or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be a Massachusetts-certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or become a Massachusetts-certified Emergency Medical Technician within your first eighteen (18) months of employment

Applicants must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of a police officer. Successful applicants will be required to pass a medical and psychological examination, a fitness test, and an extensive background investigation.

The application deadline is no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025.

The Aquinnah Police Department is also hiring a seasonal Traffic Officer.

Applicants are preferred to have a high school diploma or equivalent, must have an active Massachusetts Driver’s License, and must pass a CORI background check.

CPR and First Responder training is preferred, but not required, as the department will provide training if needed.
